How lucky are we to be able to celebrate the day with all our friends here at the St Kilda Esplanade Market. We will be open from 10am to 5pm on the Upper Esplanade in St Kilda. The St Kilda Esplanade market is one of the oldest makers markets in Melbourne and has so many fantastic Australian artists making up the unique mix of stallholders. If you are after Australian gifts then we are the place to visit. See you there this Sunday!
This weekend also marks the end of the school holidays with many children starting back at school next week. Take advantage of the long weekend and enjoy your own back yard here in St Kilda, there really is something for everyone. Located only 6km from the city center and easy tram ride to our gorgeous beaches, palm-lined streets, great restaurants and of course the colourful St Kilda Esplanade Market- open 10am to 5pm every Sunday of the year except for the St Kilda Festival Sunday.
For all our international visitors, Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, which marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales. In contemporary Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community.
Just a reminder, Monday 27 January is a public holiday in every state and territory of Australia, as Australia Day falls on a weekend this year.
